Xubuntu logging in then kicking me off

Sun Apr 26, 2015 1:41 am

Sorry I'm posting this here... there's no alternative place on the forums where this would really fall under jurisdiction.

So I set up ubuntu on the raspberry pi today following this article https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi and all went well. I then loaded xubuntu with lightdm and again all is well. I can boot to the login, however at that screen whenever I try to login with default password ubuntu/ubuntu it recognizes that it is correct... but then the screen flashes and it kicks me right off and back to the login page.

I can get into the guest account, but it is on lockdown, so there isnt much I can do from there.

Any suggestions would be welcome, I'm genuinely perplexed as to why it knows the password is good yet it wants to kick me off :-(

Update: I got out of the gui with ctrl+alt+f1 and created a new user... and it worked! Im still working on why the original problem is happening though...

Check file permission under /home/ubuntu/

-rw------- 1 root root 302 Aug 11 04:02 .Xauthority
-rw------- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 354 Aug 11 04:03 .xsession-errors
-rw------- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 2125 Aug 11 03:59 .xsession-errors.old

In my case, change all files back to ubuntu.ubuntu and then got resolved.
