I'm working on a project to turn one of my Honey Bee Hives into a smart Hive with the B+. Question I have is will the B+ run fine on a 12V @ 1.2 AMPs?
I'll be running the PI, 12V Fan, 4-5 Sensors, camera and WiFi.
I can drop the power supply down to 6V @ 1.2 AMPS if anyone thinks that will be enough power.

The B+ (or any other Pi for the matter) works on 5V. Feed it anything bigger and it will wave you goodbye.

You can attach wires to it directly or buy a DIY wire-in 12V socket at an auto-parts store etc.

Do not try to use the Poundland item which has 2 cigarette lighter sockets and a USB 5 volt output. Its electronics consists of nothing more than a solitary 78L05 type regulator in a TO-92 package. Plastic package, no heatsink of any kind, dropping 9 volts. It won't power or charge anything requiring more than a miserly current before overheating and shutting down.
