Powering Multiple RPis

Wed Mar 25, 2015 3:43 pm

Okay this is my first post, having used the forum extensively over the last week to setup two RPi 2.

I'm looking for some guidance. I would like to power 6 RPi 2 from one mains socket. These Pi will have a Wi-Fi dongle plugged in for network connectivity and apart from that will have no peripherals plugged in (unless the box crashes and I can't VNC on in which case I'll have to plug in a keyboard and mouse). The Pi will only be used to display webpages/ Remote Desktop sessions on a bank of televisions to monitor various aspects of the network.

Can I power 6 Pi from a mains powered 7 socket USB Hub, if so can anyone recommend one (ideally from amazon or the like rather than ebay)?

Thanks

I've been looking for something similar and an Amazon search shows two candidates:

Volutz 6 port

This one only has 5 ports, but does mention Pi specifically:
Swees 5 Port

I haven't used either and am only looking to power B+, so less power than the Pi 2, but the specs look in the right ball park.
