white USB port [RESOLVED]

Fri Mar 20, 2015 4:12 pm

Hello,

I am new to Raspberry but I have some problems.

At my company we use the RPI to show information in kiosk mode, so we got a batch of 10 devices.

Last week we got a new batch, but I can't get the keyboards to work anymore.

First and second batch are both Model B+
There is only one visible difference, the color of the USB ports. The old devices have black ones the new have white USB ports.

I used 3 different keyboards, that worked before. They still work on all the RPIs that have black but not on the white ones. I use the same SD card to make sure the configurations are the same.

Did I get a bad batch?

That's....odd.

What does dmesg say when you plug in a keyboard?

Agreed, only my A, A+ and ancient B1 have white USB connectors. All my B2's, B+'s and the P2B are black.
Trev.
Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm

What if you update the software (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade) on one of the old ones and THEN put it in one of the new ones ?

Hello again,

I used the old SD card from previous RPIs and it didn't work.

I then used the SD card with NOOBS (RASPBIAN) and keyboard is working again.

I just wonder what hardware changes have happen since its the same model.

Different RAM chips? Can we have an aerial photo of the board you haven't shown?
