Citrix Xen Desktop

Wed Mar 18, 2015 11:39 am

I am replacing some ancient Windows PC in a school in Africa with some Raspberry Pis. Until I can source alternative educational software to replace the Windows XP stuff they are currently running I am looking at alternatives approaches. One possibility I have come across is to run a single windows box and then Citrix Xen Desktop to make available the original apps on the Pis. Is this a practical approach ? I'm assuming that even with the Pi 2 it's not particularly practical to run virtualisation software such as VMWare ?

Yes it is possible, I use a model B Pi at work to access XenDesktop.
For the B / B+ there is a version of receiver here:

For the Pi V2, then it is possible to use the normal Linux client, take a look at the blog comments. It might be a while before something official comes out.
