Solar Storm in progress... Aurora possible!

Tue Mar 17, 2015 4:57 pm

A Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), blasted away from a sunspot has reached Earth's magnetic field, and it would appear that
There is a chance of seeing Aurora at middle latitudes. The forecast is predicting a Kp index of 8, so hopefully if cloud clears, Aurora may be visible in Scotland/Northern England, and possibly the Midlands!

So no Carrington event then? Is it safe to take my Raspberry Pi collection out of the microwave now?

Could you make a Raspberry Pi powered coronograph and watch the fun as it happens?
