x300 on pi 2

Mon Mar 16, 2015 10:57 pm

Hi guys

I know that pi 2 is different from b+, but there wasn't a pi 2 section for hardware yet and I know the x300 board works on both...

So... I have bought a couple of these :-

Image

and I have followed the tutorials here :-

http://www.suptronics.com/Xseries/x300.html

but I can't get them to fully function. Wifi works and sata is spotted by the pi. I can get sound working too (as it is effectively a USB sound card on a USB hub)

I can't get the real time clock or the infrared to work though.

the web site has a raspian image, but they don't tell you the password!

Anyone got one of these fully working?

I have one of these (as well as an x100 for my old B and X505 for my A+) and had no trouble with the RTC stuff.

I *didn't* use the pre-built raspbian because it was just on the cusp of the Pi2 release; after some conversations about that with the extremely helpful support staff I worked through the "Section F Setting RTC time " part of the web page and had no problems. If you use rasp-config to enable i2c you'll almost certainly find that /etc/modprobe.d/raspi-blacklist.conf already has the bcm2708 stuff removed.

Now the bit I still haven't got going fully is the sound card. I really want to get some sound input working for Scratch.

Thank you and best regards

Same problem, can't get WiFi on X300 to work. Not being detected.

I don't mean to hijack this but whats the speed like using SATA? I was considering one of these myself but have not seen any tests or anything that provides information on what sort of speed the SATA connection can do.

With an SSD or fast SATA drive, you will likely get 20MB/sec-30MB/sec, if the USB-SATA chip on the x300 mode supports usb attached scsi mode you might get close to 40MB/sec if nothing else (like Ethernet) is running.

See

http://www.mikronauts.com/raspberry-pi/ ... erry-pi-2/

http://www.mikronauts.com/raspberry-pi/ ... ent-howto/

for more info, which will show you why it is not possible for it to be faster

p.s.

SATA over GPIO will be much slower.

With the latest Raspbian (november '15) and the menubar network tool, it just works for me.

sorry if I am hijacking.

I had to install twice before I could get wifi working. Mine is on the raspi2 with Raspbian Wheezy 1.4.*
I have managed to get WIFI, IR and sound working but as for BlueTooth........nothing.
it says you have to change the baud rate from

Code: Select all

dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p6 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline fsck.repair=yes rootwait

to

Code: Select all

dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=ttyAMA0,9600 kgdboc=ttyAMA0,9600 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline rootwait
when I do change it, the pi refuses to boot as it looks like the tty has totally changed.

I'm using retropie 4 with mine so wifi was easy to set up. Sata was not a problem. IR sensor "sees" my harmony 650 remote and my phone "sees" the bluetooth. I was able to get sound working thru the 3.5mm jack but have not been able to get optical to output and there is an annoying thump on boot (think of the sound of dropping a needle on vinyl 3 times)

Now when I emailed them and asked for some help configuring the audio they said that they can not help me because everybody's situation is different. (WTF?)

Regarding helping me with my remote control they recommended that I buy a usb bluetooth adapter! Again WTF? One of the features of this board is bluetooth and guess what..it's usb!!

I had heard. That this company offers excellent support but someone was lying! I do not recommend anyone supports Suptronics! They have some neat stuff but without support or alot of knowledge they are useless to a regular Joe like me. (Pun intended)

Do not buy!

End rant

Thanks
This is not like any other bulletin boards that I have been on. Been flamed on other BB's so bad I was afraid to ask.
