Sd card, noobs and xbmc

Sat Mar 14, 2015 2:06 am

Hi guys, new here and totally new to the Pi.... Just got the pi2. It seems to run fine with the kit I bought. I do intend getting more to add to my ham radio shack in the future.... But for now, I need to play and get familiar with the thing.

I am a Mac user, no PCs here.

Anyway, tonight I bought a new sd card, followed online instructions and installed xbmc on it. Attached to TV, and just got the multicolour screen. Does the card have to have anything else on it? Like another install of noobs? Thanks in advance.

XBMC is not compatible with pi2. Look at your other options.

As XBMC is an interface and not an Operating System have no idea what you are trying to install.

The XBMC interface is now called KODI.

May I suggest you install OpenElec if you want a Media Centre Operating System

No you need to install OpenElec on its own, forget NOOBS

Yet again there is no Operating System called XBMC

All I am asking is how do I go about getting xbmc running. As I said totally new to this.

I have a Pi 2, an sd card that came with it that boots the machine.

I also have a new 16g sd card that is blank. If someone could please explain, that would be great. I only have macs here. As much detail as possible would be great.
thanks.

Have you been ignoring my responses :?:

Try again XBMC is now called KODI and is an interface, it is not an Operating System

OpenElec is an Operating System which uses the KODI interface http://openelec.tv/get-openelec

download the second item under ""ARMv7 builds - RPi2 ARMv7 quad core models (Model B 1024MB)""

" [Stable] OpenELEC 5.0.6 (arm) Diskimage" which is named 'OpenELEC-RPi2.arm-5.0.6.img.gz' and needs to be unzipped which will then be

OpenELEC-RPi2.arm-5.0.6.img

Then you need to 'copy' this to the SD Card
