run rpi 2 on sd

Did I miss something. I'd assumed that my rpi 2 would be same as my rpi 1 ie use SD, but find it doesn't - needs microsd, so can't use my SDs. I've been looking on ebay/amazon etc for an adapter but find there are lots of them, but they are all adapters to plug a microsd into a SD slot. Did I miss something - why no suitable adapters? Would someone pls point me at an adapter so I can use SDs in my rpi 2 or tell me that thy don't exist?

They don't exist.

uSD are pretty cheap now - best bet is to buy a new one.

The Pi went uSD when the B+ was launched, some while ago!

Are you sure the older cards are actually SD, and not microSD in an SD adapter?

Thanks - tho not 100% sure where it accomodates the SD. Also it is v expensive - the microsd- sd adapters that are so plentiful can be less that £1 including postage. Still think there should be market - lots of usable SDs out there! j

But why not? - there must be a lot of newish 4-8G or even bigger SDs out there. J

MicroSDs are smaller on purpose. There is often no
space to use an adaptor - contrary to the
adaptors which work the other way round.

Furthermore MicroSD cards have to be more expensive
than regular ones ( they're smaller , right ?) and how
are the manufacturers going to make money if
everybody just uses their old SD cards in adaptors ??

To be honest , i think you are just overstimating demand/supply for
such an adaptor - they DO indeed exist for those people who
can quantify their needs in hard cash (commercial clients ?).
