Noobs or Raspbian

As I am getting back into Pi work and want to start using my Piface, I must confess that due to my advancing years , I have forgotten a lot of things. To start with, what is the essential difference between Noobs and Raspbian OS's? I have just downloaded the latest versions of both.

Hi again,

With Noobs, you have the choice at the start of several OS and Raspbian is an OS and only boot with it.
To back come in the Rpi, you should take Raspbian, it's my opinion.
