This guide helped me a lot, but the one question it didn't answer was what happens after. If I disconnect putty or close it out, does that shut down the miner. If it does, is there a way around that?

nohup means no hangup, the nohup'd task keeps running until you kill it, it fails or your reboot.

I just performed this tutorial and had no issues at all, Thank you!

My differences were
I used Raspian-Jessie full version.

my choices for Over Clocking were 900 and 1000 since you went to 800 in the video I left it alone.

my hash rate score is 63.57 Gh/s.
using Raspberry Pi/2

Still not sure how to set up my wallet but that will be next. :geek:

thank you for you informative post. Followed all steps without issue, but the moment

Install, configure and also enable bmsc options:

cd cgminer

(here) ******* sudo ./autogen.sh (it fails and come up with autorunconf:not found)

export LIBCURL_CFLAGS=’-I/usr/include/curl’
sudo ./configure --enable-bmsc
sudo make

Hey there, thanks for the tutorial, it also worked for me.

I am, however, not mining any bitcoins, since I only use my Raspberry Pi 2 and no external miners. Is that why I am not mining? Or is there likely to be any setup error?

thanks in advance :)

Hello Folks,

I realize this is an old thread, but it is one of the most recent I have seen on the web regarding BTC and Raspberry Pi. It is also the only thread, out of all the tutorials I have tried (and there are many) that successfully got cgminer installed and working on my Pi.

Has anyone had any success mining on a Pi 3? I used the instructions above and removed the frequency and voltage settings as I am using Sapphire Asicminer through a powered D-Link USB 2.0 hub.

cgminer looks to be working fine, the USB miner is detected and enabled, the pool is connecting to cgminer, even the led on the miner starts blinking when I launch cgminer BUT, there is zero activity.

Here is what I am using to launch cgminer:
sudo ./cgminer --bmsc-options 115200:1:1 -o stratum+tcp://us-east.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u User.Worker -p Password

(no, I don't actually use User.Worker and Password)

And here is what I get:

cgminer version 4.9.0 - Started: [2016-05-31 14:33:45]

Any advise or assistance would be VERY appreciated.

Hi there,

I have had no issue with this, it works fine. However, the final part, having it auto-run is not working for me unfortunately. I keep getting a "There is no screen to be attached matching cgminer." Message. I have the right username in and everything. I would just like to have this going while I am not SSH'd into the pi. I have checked via the slushpool terminal, and it is not actually going in the background.

Code: Select all

  GNU nano 2.2.6 File: /etc/rc.local

#!/bin/sh -e
#
# rc.local
#
# This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel.
# Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on success or any other
# value on error.
#
# In order to enable or disable this script just change the execution
# bits.
#
# By default this script does nothing.

# Print the IP address
_IP=$(hostname -I) || true
if [ "$_IP" ]; then
printf "My IP address is %s\n" "$_IP"
fi
cd cgminer
screen -dmS cgminer ./cgminer --bmsc-options 115200:0.57 -o stratum+tcp://eu.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333L -u USERNAME -p anything --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1286
exit 0

Any help would be most appreciated.

You have the letter "L" after the stratum address, try removing that and try again :)

Rather than use Screen, why not use nohup

Code: Select all

nohup /home/pi/cgminer/cgminer --compact --real-quiet --bmsc-options 115200:0.57 -o stratum+tcp://eu.stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333L -u USERNAME -p anything --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1286 >/dev/null 2>&1&
Best to use --compact and --real-quiet options otheruse cgminer sends your CPU usage through the roof when sending all output + errors to the /dev/null blackhole

At least, this is how I've been running USB ASIC miners with cgminer on my Pi A+ for a long time now http://dxpetti.com/blog/?tag=cgminer

Hello, I followed this tutorial and I'm trying to get gridseed miners workin, but I do not know how. CGminer does not detect them and I dont know how to add them, or even if I need to.
Are there drivers for griseed I should be using?

Please help out even if you could point me to a tutorial it would be great!

I tried with several Ant Miners and I keep getting the following (any ideas why?)
[2017-07-12 17:10:52] Started cgminer 4.9.0
[2017-07-12 17:10:52] No devices detected!
[2017-07-12 17:10:52] Waiting for USB hotplug devices or press q to quit
[2017-07-12 17:10:52] Probing for an alive pool

I am using RPI2 with Raspbian, I was following
this URL in order to set the RPI2:

Hi all, This is driving me insane.

Got a raspebbry Pi 3 and a gridseed blade but no matter what I try I cannot get it to work.
CG miner tries to mine from the CPU and does not see the blades. :(

I am a total noob although picking up alot. :?
Already have Raspbian loaded, a fixed IP though the router so I can use putty and windows remote login.
changed the password for route and user.
Got a wallet and pool setup and ready to go. :geek:

all the equipment is working lovely, well er apart from CGminer and the hashing.
mining LTC only but later want to add maybe more gridseeds but for now HELPPPP!

Does this setup work with gekkoscience 2pac USB miners. If so what freq would I use for 3 miners overclocked 33gh/s which I think is there Max. Don't know if I could push them further with great cooling unit. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
