Pi 2 micro SD speed

Sat Feb 28, 2015 8:45 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is worth spending the extra on a class 10 mirco sd card that can run at 90 MB/s or if 48 MB/s is fast enough?

can the Pi 2 handle that speed, will it make a difference? (i want to use it with osmc)

Thanks.

Class 10 tend to be optimised for high speed writes of big blobs of data (5MP or bigger jpegs). The Raspberry Pi tends to do lots of reads of small files and lots of appending data to existing files. That's the antithesis of how a class 10 card is optimised.
