New Pi B+ Project newby :) Help needed

Fri Feb 27, 2015 1:59 pm

Hi All & thanks for any help in advance.

So I have got my new Pi yesterday and after some messing around I have worked out what I want to do.

I want to have it so I can have a media center & a Retro arcade games system. Looking at it I can run Raspbian Wheezy and install XBMC on that for the media. But the hard part is getting the retro games set up and I think this is where I am going to need the help.

Once I have all the working I plan on adding a touch screen to act as the controls of the media center along with the Yatse app for XBMC.

And once that is done box it all up in something like a PS3, freeview, sky, case... you get the idea.

If I get to stage 2 and like it I might replace the B+ with the 2 for he extra power.

So I guess the first question is can I run retro games on Raspbian Wheezy and if so how?

Oh and to start with it will be keyboard controls USB joystick will come later control.

they have free emulators.

they have old games that work well too. like Doom.
