Auto start application with latest RASPIAN OS

I recently bought a RASPBERRYPI 2 board. I am using the latest OS, updated on 16Feb2015.
I am unable to start an application through etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart.
What is the Desktop it is booting. ? where to put start an application at boot up.

You could try editing the file
/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
instead of
/etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart
