Pi Camera GUI on a touchscreen?

Thu Feb 19, 2015 7:12 pm

Hi all, I have a model B pi and a regular camera module (not the PiNoir version) and I have played around with it a good deal and am very happy with the image quality of the camera. I'm wondering, is there a full screen GUI that would show an infinite live preview of the camera with shutter and recording buttons overlayed on it? I have a 15" Elo touchscreen that works on the pi with no additional drivers and an am wondering if there is such an interface. I tried running the python software for the PiTFT Camera project that uses a touch screen shield from Adafruit, but the software failed, I think cause it is meant to run on a display connected via GPIO, not my touch screen connected via HDMI. If not any of this, is it even remotely possible to force a live infinite preview from the camera to the composite output while still using the Pi from the HDMI output?

Thanks for any suggestions,
