Screen rotation using accelerometer

Hi guys,
Q: please i want to know how to make Raspberrypi screen auto rotate using accelerometer

on Android using JAVA programming ?

AND

on Linux os using python ?

Haven't found any solution on how to rotate on a running system. You have to restart x to make it happen. :|
