No, but this is possible right now (and has always been) and it really doesn't make a big difference to booting everything from an USB device.
But if you insist on keeping your SD card slot empty, keep on complaining and not using the RPi3 at all.

I tried your way with horrible results. I'm not complaining. I'm requesting that a product I paid for work as advertised.

It does work as advertised. The feature to boot from USB is not advertised as working yet, you will have to WAIT just like the rest of us until the Raspberry Pi Foundation folks have completed their firmware development and testing for that.

It works absolutely fine if you do it properly. It's been done many times before without issues. It won't necessarily be any faster or more reliable than a decent microSD card though, so it's often a complete waste of time and effort.

Prove that is has been advertised as such or keep your mouth shut.

Followed the listed procedure. Did it as it said.

That is not the topic if this post. The topic is deceitful advartising and when will the consumer be made whole. If this had happened in my country the Department of Consumer Affairs would have already levied fines.

Don't misunderstand .me I like the Pi otgerwise I wouldn't be here, but I don't llike to me misled. This is simple just make the pi3 work as advertised and meanwhile you do tell what are you doing to correct the problem.

I didn't request the features they advertised they did it on their own and it's a great idea. Now lets see it happen.

You're conflating capabilities of the bcm2837 soc & those of the RPi3 in which it just happens to be built; time will tell if those soc features can be used on the 3B or will be exploited in future products eg 3CM or 3A.
