Has anyone see this yet? Microsoft is jumping on the ARM bandwagon, wow!
What do you guys think, will this work?

Re: Windows 8 on ARM
This gets posted about twice a week. Welcome aboard, Scotty!
The answer to your question is: Yes, it will work, on suitable hardware.
But not, of course, on the Raspberry Pi. I assume this was posted in the off-topic forum...

And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

OH, haha, sorry if others have posted it.
This big news is that it was released today but I can't find it.
Why would it not run on the Pi? It's and ARM processor with a broadcom card. It's typical hardware.

Re: Windows 8 on ARM
No it is not! Windows 8 on ARM is very resource hungry. According to Microsoft recommendations it requires the very latest generation of ARM processors clocked at 1GHz or more, and at least 1GB of RAM - and the Raspberry Pi does not qualify on either of these counts.Scotty T wrote:OH, haha, sorry if others have posted it.

Re: Windows 8 on ARM
Windows 8 requires an ARMv7 or higher processor the PI is only an ARMv6 therefore not compatible.

This "big news" was known months ago, and it has been discussed to death here that its not ever going to work on a PI, for numerous reasons, one being that if it was Microsoft would demand that no other OS would ever work.Scotty T wrote:This big news is that it was released today but I can't find it.
