Has anyone tried running mono develop on RPi, or at least the mono workframe ?

Yes. The framework anyway. Search for 'mono' post from a couple of days ago. Somebody with a Rpi installed mono into their Debian image and ran up a 'hello world' app. Unknown about Iron Python or other goodies.

And just a follow up, Mono framework runtime does work (including VB support). I slapped together a quick test program that relays UDP broadcast packets between the Rpi and a PC. The GUI is sluggish, but hopefully will improve with X GPU support. Not tested: any Mono dev tools/IDE...

Can confirm installation of mono binaries on Debian Raspberry pi. It's version 2.6 though which means if you want the current version you have to compile from source. This isn't difficult but you'll need to compile overnight as it takes about 8-9 hours!!

Get your source code from here http://mono-project.com/OldReleases
e.g mono-2.10.6.tar.bz2

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sudo apt-get install bison
sudo apt-get install gettext
tar xvjf mono-2.10.6.tar.bz2
cd mono-2.10.6
sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr/local ; sudo make; sudo make install
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

now go to bed and check on your pi in the morning.
