Invalid response packet from host

Hi,

Since I am on Windows 10 with my notebook I got the following flooding my syslog when I am connected via ssh to the PI2 (latest firmware and raspbian wheezy)

avahi-daemon[2429]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.2.124.

192.168.2.124 is the ip of my Windows 10 Notebook.
Can someone help me on this or got an idea?

It's a known, but unresolved bug in Avahi.

There also doesn't seem to be any simple way to disable the logging.

i have a syslog filled with these

Sep 14 07:41:22 pi-server avahi-daemon[2628]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.15.
Sep 14 07:41:47 pi-server avahi-daemon[2628]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.15.
Sep 14 07:41:51 pi-server avahi-daemon[2628]: Invalid response packet from host 192.168.1.15.

someone here mentioed having a script to copy the log, get rid of the lines then put the log back? (bottom post)

should remove all lines containing 'Invalid response packet from host' from /var/log/syslog

sudo sed -i '/Invalid response packet from host/d' /var/log/syslog

if you want to create a backup of the syslog first you can use

sudo sed -i".bak" '/Invalid response packet from host/d' /var/log/syslog

this will create a syslog.bak file before making the changes
and then run as a cronjob or add a script into /etc/cron.hourly/

Or you could do this and black hole the crap (just sayin)

add this to /etc/rsyslog.conf (and yes I know the &~ is deprecated but using the newer stop seems to stop all logging) and then run sudo /etc/init.d/rsyslog restart and check your log files.
