Used just the latest /boot and /lib/modules from the github

Slackware 13.37 is working flawlessly!

I deleted the contents of /dev/mmcblk0p2, copied the slackware rootfs from www.armedslack.org and uncompressed it on /dev/mmcblk0p2. Then I just edited /etc/fstab and it booted right away

It would be great if you could include wget and git in the default root image, so that rpi-update works out-of-the-box
And after you've tested/uploaded your image ( http://rpi-developers.com might be a good place for hosting? ), please add it to http://elinux.org/RPi_Distributions

Everything works fast as hell without problems. I need to test the X server with xfce4. Slackware doesn`t have lxde out of the box.

Was just about to do this myself (and the ArmedSlack guys seems to be just waiting for their RPi to arrive to make it "official").

Would be interested in your image because the first thing I did on the Debian image was set about deleting X and associated libraries so I can get back to an install that just does what I want (already ran out of space on a 2Gb card within an hour of having the RPi connected and had to start pruning), and I usually use Slackware for that.

Also, the car project that I'm going to move from Mini-ITX to RPi board was started on Slack and it would be much easier to port it over than try to recreate all its startup scripts etc. on Debian.

I had to tweak a bit rc.S to have a clean startup.
To do:

- test xfce
- clean system (remove some packages, reset settings to defaults, clean logs and history, reset users and passwords)
-make image

I only have 4 GB SD cards so the .img file will be for 4 GB cards.

Oh wow! Just in time, I'm expecting my Pi next week (cross my fingers). A big thanks, I hope I'll be able to get it to run. Slackware is the only distro I use for some time now. Glad to see it on the Pi.

Sounds good. Slackware is my system of choice. My Raspberry Pi is due week of 28 May, so intend to try it with Armed Slack.

Ok ArmedSlack Pi is ready, I just need to create the image.

The rootfs is about ~ 1.2 GB.

- It boots incredibly quick (thanks to the latest firmware)
- Rock solid
- Default window manager is Xfce4 but Fluxbox is also included
- Xfce has a greater load time than Lxde but once started it`s as fast as Lxde.. maybe faster
- Mozilla Firefox 3.6.28 is the default browser. It needs a few seconds to load but once started it loads and renders pages faster than Midori.
- SSH is enabled by default
- It uses the 192 MB start.elf
- User "root" password "raspberry"
- Based on ArmedSlack 13.37 + latest patches
- slackpkg tool included

I don't have any affiliation to the site, but it seems designed for exactly this kind of large-file-hosting, and when I had problems getting my email address registered (which embarrassingly turned out to be a simple typo on my end!), the site admin was very responsive and helpful.
