Same here, network MySQL database doesn't work, it creates a copy of myvideo61 in myvideo63 but no library in the gui.
Don't feel like rebuilding my whole database again tonight to see if a fresh one works so will see if it is fixable. Luckily I used a fresh card so back to R10995 for my evenings viewing

I found that if I renamed my 61 database to 63 in phpMyAdmin it worked fine (on older builds at least, not tried the lastest one yet)

This thread any good to you? Looks like OpenELEC may be having trouble accessing the database.

So far my scan is going OK - no errors in the logs, although I do get a rather annoying WARNING with each image (see below) - however I'm going to let it go for a bit longer before trying to view any images.

The warning I get for each image is as follows - maybe it's a peculiarity of mounting the Thumbnails over NFS?

So I thought it was something like that, but it can and does access the db and change other tables without issue, which is confusing. I didn't do anything to change permissions for the user I created for xbmc to access the db, so I'm not sure why 10995 wouldn't also have this apparent permissions problem. But I'll take a look at the thread, thanks.

I got the same error (maybe not as often as you) in my logs using SMB

Thanks to Dr Google, I know know that the supposedly 'undefined' 'Error 1062' in MySQL apparently corresponds to:
Message: Duplicate entry '%s' for key %d

Taking a look at the schema in phpmyadmin, it looks like exactly one image was successfully added in (for an actress from the first tv show in the folder) and autoincrement wasn't set for the 'art_id' key in the 'art' table. Setting that correctly got things moving along the way they should have been.
I'm not sure if this schema error is in xbmc or in openelec, or if only affects MySQL or also affects local sqlite3.

Once I set auto_increment, all of the other errors (about decoding, warnings about) cease to happen, too; nothing comes up when running tail -f ~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log

I spoke a bit too soon - I'm seeing one or two warnings about overwriting being enabled, but mostly the screen is staying static. Ugh. In any case I filed it as an issue at Github, here.

Other than that...looks like 'curl failed with code 28' (or code 33) is happening a bunch, but I'm just gonna blame the host.

Weirdly enough, some, but not all, of the non-red images are now working fine, and sometimes, scrolling away and scrolling back will cause the images to work correctly.

Hmm, I'm using 3 atm, which didn't cause this issue with older builds. I guess it's something I'll have to try

i gave up on it after a couple of hours.... it spat its dummy out over the xml parser and don’t really think its worth the effort to fix it...

i think it's quite clear that the RPi is of no use for compiling code on,at least nothing of any significant size....

i know by using the -j switch on the "make" command you can make it compile using multi cores, but there is also another switch you can use to make use of other machines to compile code spread across them... , any idea on it or how its used?

distcc ... it is somehow good to use it along with ccache

Though not every project can be compiled using distcc

Not sure about that, as It's the way they're being created - the images on disk are missing red, so it's not a display issue it's a generation/creation issue (presumably the posters are being donwloaded from a site somewhere, then being rescaled and stored as Thumbnails - it's this conversion/rescaling that seems to be generating "sepia" images).

Example below, this is the Thumbnail as it was generated during the scan - due to a forum upload limit I've used Photobucket which has squished it down from it's original size of 1000x1500 to 682x1023:

Ive been using these builds with a 32" 720p TV with no problems however when I connected it up to my 42" 1080p TV it really struggles and video is unwatchable, tried to change the resolution to 720p on the Pi but just give a really small image on the TV and theres no option on the TV to do anything,

Any ideas?

I have been following the instructions http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title ... spberry_Pi to get OpenELEC 4 PRi working.

Sadly I have had to send my Pi back because it was faulty, but I want to try to get the SD card ready for when the replacement arrives.

The problem I have been having, is that my second partition on the SD card (ext4 format called "storage") does not allow read or write access from either the Ubuntu PC that I am setting it up on, or on the Pi. During bootup to OpenELEC the Pi reports that it can not write to \storage\xyz. Also, within Ubuntu, when ever I click on the "lost+found" directory in the "storage" partition I get the warning

"The folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "lost+found"."

Also, I can not make a new folder or copy any files to the partition either.

How do I fix this? I am following the instructions to the letter!

Two things - if your Pi won't arrive for while, you might wanna delay compilation till right before it comes. You might wanna used gparted to just reformat the storage section, but if it's permission issues you might wanna check out what the permissions are try to change them instead.
On my card, permissions in the storage folder are 755, owner is root, and group is root.

for easy visual access to your storage partition with full read/write access

Look like the swapfile is now optional. Coupled with offloading of thumbnails to somewhere on your network, it may be possible to fit this on a 128MB card. Of course you'd need one that isn't slow as hell, but this is still very cool

All the bugs I'm filing seem to be categorized as 3rd party, which I guess means 'go bother the xbmc team', so I guess I'll be doing that soon enough

I wonder if someone can assist me. I got my rpi a couple of days ago and it seemed ok under the debian image. However I cannot get OpenELEC to work. I've tried rolling my own under Ubuntu 12.04, and I've tried the latest image posted in this thread, plus two other most recent ones from here (http://www.numan1617.com/rpi/openelec/builds/) but all do exactly the same thing.

It boots up, looks like its working, until it initialises the GUI. Then the USB devices (only keyboard and mouse plugged in directly) stop working (they loose power completely) and the ethernet adaptor seems to turn off (all the lights go off). The clock on the GUI locks up (sometimes it manages to progress one minute). So at that point its totally unresponsive and I am forced to pull the plug.

I've tried it with the keyboard and mouse unplugged, and the with the ethernet unplugged as well - same result.

I ran it in debug mode (in the cmdline.txt) and the messages log is full of this:

openelec user.warn kernel: [ 83.671676] smsc95xx 1-1.1:1.0: (unregistered net_device): Failed to read register index

and a few of these:

Googling that led me to a post for a similar error under debian which suggests the power supply. So I tested the voltage across the board (as described here: http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting# ... r_problems) and I'm getting between 4.71 and 5.05 volts and when it locks up I'm getting a steady 5.01volts, so to me that seems that the powersupply is ok (its a 5v & 1amp psu).

The only other variable I can think of is the SD Card. It did throw up a few -110 errors on boot under debian, but once it was discovered seems to work ok. Unfortunately I only have the one. I've got another on order, but that hasn't arrived yet, so I can't test this yet.

Does anyone have any other ideas as I think I may have run out of them.

@intraclast can you confirm the mAh output of your power supply (should be printed on it) im guessing its 500mA, needs to be at least 700mA but suggested to have 1000mA (1A).

If you do have 700mA+ it could be a poor power supply so try a few others

Failing that it could be a faulty board (unfortunatly I had one) but please test as much as you can before returning to RS/Farnell

The reason Debian is working and OpenELEC not COULD be due to OpenELEC hammering the CPU constantly requiring more power,

My new SD card arrived this morning - still exactly the same issue though

@funnel - I've tried it without the keyboard, i've tried it with nothing plugged in at all except the HDMI to DVI cable. It crashes without any load on the USB ports, and without the ethernet cable plugged in.

@HelpMe1986 - My PSU is 1000ma, I've measured the voltage through the boot and it doesn't go below 4.7v. When I had Debian on it, I loaded up Logitech Media Server (Squeezebox) and that hammered the cpu a fair amount. It did kernel panic once with that, but worked on a second try.

I'm going to have to see if my neighbours have a phone charger I can borrow to rule out the PSU.

Good news! Got it sorted. A change of power supply has sorted it, its still 5v 1000ma, but this one works. Unfortunately its not mine so I'll have to get another one that works.
