I am considering buying a raspi but I read on Wikipedia that Raspberry Pi 2, Model B, has USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0.
See if I were to purchase a raspi I would want to attach an external disc to it but USB 2.0 is just too slow. It would have to be USB 3.0. Cloud storage and NAS (network attached storage) are not options for me.
What other options are available? Has anybody developed a way to attach an external disc, perhaps using the GPIO pins, and get reasonable transfer rates? I am not looking to boot from an external disc, just have it attached and usable as additional storage. Yes, I know all about mounting discs under Linux but this post is NOT about mounting discs it's about the physical connection and decent (> USB 2.0) transfer rates.
