HDMI Eithernet working? [Solved]

Mon May 14, 2012 11:41 am

I bought a new HDMI cable for my PI and I just got what ever said highspeed and was cheap.

I got home and tried it but nothing is loading (Composite is working).

I checked the cable again and it said 'With Eithernet'?!?!

Has anyone experienced anything similar

Some HDMI cables also have an ethernet channel in them, although that shouldn't affect normal HDMI usage. Do you have another device you can test the cable with?

Plot thickens a little bit

When the hdmi is in the monitor goes into power saving mode... nothing is displayed...

When I take the cable out monitor says plug in cable... So its detection their...

All LED's are there do what they do so its like the monitor is not default?

Is it possible that by loading the pi to the composite it saved that as default?

It shouldn't care that it had ethernet, that would just be an unused function :-)

Try following the instructions inthis post Gert just made for manually setting the HDMI information, it might be just the solution you need

There's an almost invisible link on the 'this post' phrase...methinks we may need to fix that!

Removing the config file and letting the system sort it self out worked a charm

I had:

hdmi_mode=19
#arm_freq=800
disable_overscan=1
