OpenGL and Blender

Hi -
Has anyone found an easy to follow tutorial on installing OpenGL and Blender on a Raspberry Pi?
I am very new to the pi and trying to learn my limits on what I can and cannot do.

My understanding is the OpenGL is not available for the Raspberry Pi at current. There are discussions on the forum about work being carried out to provide OpenGL for the Raspberry Pi (I can't remember were of the top off my head), but that is a work in progress.

Edit: To clarify I was talking about OpenGL not OpenGL ES. OpenGL ES is available on the Raspberry Pi (version 1 and 2), but is probably no use for running Blender (unless you are able to get this working on the Raspberry Pi)

GPU on most/all(?) ARM SoCs of this type support only OpenGL ES. They don't support OpenGL.

Open GL (not ES) is being actively worked on for the Raspberry Pi by Eric Anholt. The Video Core Source – 1 Year On thread has some up-to-date information on the status.

I've been attempting to get vc4-3.18 and vc4-3.19 working, but I think I give up for now. Here are some notes from my latest attempt in case any of you want to try where I failed:

I downloaded blender on my Pi 2 running ubuntu 14.04 and it actually works far better than expected! As for opengl, I'm not sure about that, but I get decent render times considering the hardware being used (12 seconds to 3 minutes per frame) though I have just begun using blender a few days ago so none of my animations are incredibly complex. I'm not going to list every detailed setting, but a basic text particle emitter with 34000 particles rendered at 640x480 with 135 frames rendered in under 2 hours.

As for installing, I'm not sure if you don't know how to install blender or blender and opengl together. To install blender, just open a terminal window and type

sudo apt-get install blender
then press enter, type y if it prompts you and press enter again. It will then be installed.
