Omer, did you try modprobe? insmod won"t handle module dependencies.
I haven"t tried the precise image put up for download, but the following works for me:sudo modprobe snd-bcm2835
sudo apt-get install alsa-utils
cat /dev/urandom | aplay
Sound should come out through either the 3.5mm jack or HDMI (it"s audo-detected, it will prefer HDMI I believe if your display claims support). If you need to adjust that, you can use amixer cset numid=3. This script throws up a dialog to change it:#!/bin/sh
CUR_OUTPUT=$(amixer cget numid=3 | tail -n1 | sed -e "s/[^[0-9]]*//g")
NEW_OUTPUT=$(zenity --list --title="Choose audio output (currently $CUR_OUTPUT)"
1 "Audio jack"
2 "HDMI passthrough")
if [ $RET -eq 0 ]; then
amixer cset numid=3 $NEW_OUTPUT
EditArghh, wretched forum insists on stripping the backslash character in the code above. Ther eshould be a backslash after each of the lines from the NEW_OUTPUT up to and including 1 "Audio jack". In fact...http://pastebin.com/bxHnQnKz
