Owncloud

Mon Aug 11, 2014 11:49 am

Hi,

I apologize for the off topicness yet again.

I have an Ubuntu server running owncloud and I have set up remote access by forwarding port 8080 to it. I dont have a external static Ip its dynamic and changes about every week or every time the router is reset. However I can find my ip by visiting http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and then log into my server remotely doing myip/owncloud. My question is this, will my ISP plusnet notice im doing this and if they do am I not supposed to do it?

Many thanks

Oscar

Yes that is permitted.
you can even give your dynamic IP a domain name.

Any computer connected to the internet can be client and server. It's so designed, I consider blocking it - as some providers do - a criminal act.
Minimal Kiosk Browser (kweb)
Slim, fast webkit browser with support for audio+video+playlists+youtube+pdf+download
Optional fullscreen kiosk mode and command interface for embedded applications
Includes omxplayerGUI, an X front end for omxplayer

Thanks for that guys, really helpful!

I now have used afraid.org to get a domain name, I have attempted to install a sync client on the server by following this to the letter apart from using nano not gedit. - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1758930

However when I run - ps -A | grep inadyn - I get "Dayamon failed to start."

Any suggestions or alternatives?

Thanks
