Hi, I have installed the OS from CD and display works in text mode but when I change boot options so the Pi starts in Graphics mode, it hangs. Your photos show Pi running LXDE, please help, I need to use Qt to develop graphical output on this display.

Thanks, Steve

OK, since posting this, I have found that although it hangs if I try to get it to boot to LXDE, but if I type startx at the prompt after logging in, LXDE runs OK .....

TFT framebuffer Driver are built in to the special kernel itself as the frame buffer drivers need kernel mode operations
the fbtft drivers need dma spi for speed , which is not available in standard OS (wheezy) .

for QT please reffer QT docs for integrating any standard frame buffer drivers.
or please check the x windows config files for more info regarding the frame buffer settings

you may need to add new compiled kernel by patching the existing kernel with fbtft changes
also the kernel is based on standard OS (wheezy),
should not be any issue in adding your customised changes to it as you do for standard OS .

Please refer fbtft source code and wiki for further info.

FBTFT
=========

Linux Framebuffer drivers for small TFT LCD display modules.
The module 'fbtft' makes writing drivers for some of these displays very easy.

Development is done on a Raspberry Pi running the Raspbian "wheezy" distribution.

INSTALLATION
Download kernel sources

cd drivers/video
git clone https://github.com/notro/fbtft.git

Add to drivers/video/Kconfig: source "drivers/video/fbtft/Kconfig"
Add to drivers/video/Makefile: obj-y += fbtft/

Enable driver(s) in menuconfig and build the kernel

See wiki for more information: https://github.com/notro/fbtft/wiki

The Pi boots with the LCD as default, the output to the HDMI gets switched off.

Once the Pi has booted, is it possible to switch between HDMI and LCD output?

Have a look at this: https://github.com/notro/fbtft-spindle/ ... -multiseat
I'm on holiday without a Pi, so if you get stuck I can't help you.

Hi,

I'm using one of these screens which came with an input pad and an RTC but as I don't want the input pad, I have disconnected it. I'm using the OS which came on a CD with the screen.

Can anyone tell me how to disable the gpio_mouse_device driver - I have an ADC I am bitbanging on GPIO 14, 15, 17 & 27 and it is interfering with the mouse. Everytime I move the mouse pointer with my USB mouse, the pointer just heads on back to the top left corner as the GPIO mouse driver uses GPIO17 and 27 for up and left.

I have tried commenting out the following line in the /etc/modules file but to no avail.

#gpio_mouse_device pulldown polarity=0 up=17 down=22 left=27 right=23 bleft=4

Any advice to get round this problem (other than use alternative GPIO pins for my ADC) would be very helpful.

Regards
Steve.

Hello Iwam

links to generic FBTFT pre-built OS images is available on the internet at notro git site .

The above images are GENERIC FBTFT KERNEL ONLY
Users need to configure it for various different TFT Displays devices by following the wiki and forums

An image that will work on a B+ will also work on an A or a B (and most likely on an A+). I suspect that you have incorrectly written the image to the card.

I would recommend that you reformat the card and try again.

Has the image file that you've got been unzipped (are you sure it's not compressed)? Is your SDCard big enough?

If you want to install the LCDs on a clean version of Raspbian or Rasbmc, I have written up a tutorial with a beginner in mind on how to do it. It took several days of research to find out exactly how to install the drivers and get the touchscreen configured and calibrated correctly, but I have it working nicely. If you want to save some time and headaches, check out the article here: http://www.circuitbasics.com/setup-lcd- ... pberry-pi/

[/img]@tinylcd I bought your $25 3.5 tft. I used the 35TFT_B+_03092014.img provided and I am having problems with it. I go to set up my wifi and part of the program gets cut off, so now I cant install the recommended stuff.

It's not really Neosec/Tinylcd's problem. Simply the dialog box doesn't fit on the display. However, try using a different wifi configuration program. You can run wicd-curses from a terminal. You will need to install it first.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wicd-curses
sudo wicd-curses
This guide appears to run through the procedure for setting up wifi using wicd-curses. It is a little old, but is probably still correct.

Many window managers allow moving windows by clicking anywhere in the window while holding down the Alt key.

Thanks for the replies!!!! it might not be, but I was under the assumption everything was more plug and play/ and it is to a point (my bad) but what about other programs? im also using an A+ so no Ethernet. @ragnarjensen ill have to try that but I dont shouldn't have to resize every window on every program I run.

It's not for resizing the window, it's for moving it. Instead of clicking on the title bar and dragging, Alt-click anywhere in the window and drag. Thus, you can drag a window upwards, even if the title bar already is at the top of the display.

Ok, so its been awhile but I was finally able to try it, it moves the tab around and I was to get to the buttons I needed for the wifi, but I mean there just has to be a way to go in and resize the gui so that the background and the programs open up for the correct size of the screen.
