I am looking for some help in setting up this.
What I want to achieve from my RPI is to set up a network file share where I can store data that I can access from any machine as well as storing duplicate files I.E photos as a backup in case my HDD on my PC fails.
I have set up Samba as per the guide on you tube: -
I am able to access the media file on my network but I cannot store any data there as it said access denied.
I have not done any programming for about 12 years and that was cmd on dos so my knowledge is not really the best.
The only thing I have not done is connect a USB Drive to the RPI as I just wanted to write to the SD card for now. Would this have something to do with it? if I plugged in a USB would it then work? as based on the coding he has used I cannot see what tells the system to write the files put on the system to a external HDD?
Once I have got the above working I then want to make some of the folders accessible from outside of my home network....I originally set-up PTTP which would work fine if I am using my own computers however I would like to access the files at work and I would not be allowed to set-up a VPN connection to the RPI and would prefer a way I can obtain the files by using a web browser. what would be my best option to do this? I was thinking own clowd but would there be another way?
You help would be much appreciated.
