apt-get doesn't work

Sat Jan 04, 2014 5:25 am

Now I finally have my pi "sorta" working but the keyboard still repeats sometimes.
Now my problem is with apt-get though

This is the image: http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/07/31/ ... pberry-pi/ (no GUI)

for example apt-get install links2 gives me this

Code: Select all

Your package index is out of date. It is trying to download old versions of the files which don't exist on the servers anymore.

Run "apt-get update" first to update the indexes, then try the install again.

You should probably also run an "apt-get update" to upgrade any other software that has new versions.

Strange. That should have worked.

I'm showing the current version of libtiff as 3.9.6-11, but yours is showing 3.9.6-6?

What does the output of "apt-cache policy libtiff4" show?

Hmm, that's still showing the old version.

Perhaps the mirrors haven't all been updated yet?

Wait a while (a day perhaps) and then try the apt-get update again. You should see some "GET" messages instead of "HIT". (GET means "new version found - downloading". HIT means "found same version - no download needed")

I will try it in the morning. It is almost bed time here anyway

I got all hits on the apt-get update

Still having a problem.

All hits on apt-get update
-edit-
changing the repos to archive.raspbian.org
Now I get several "Get"
followed by sitting at
100% [2 PACKAGES BZIP2 0 B]
for a VERY long time (> 3 minutes)
and then it says

Code: Select all

Fetched 7535 kB in 10 min 24s (12.1 kB/s)

W: Failed to fetch bzip2:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/mirror.raspberrypi.org_raspbian_dists_wheezy_non-free_binary_armhf_Packages Hash sum mismatch

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Just one more thing - how much free space have you got in your root (/) file system? Please show output of "df -h /"
