Help buying SD card

Wed Dec 25, 2013 9:17 pm

Hey guys, I'm a kid interested in programming (with zero experience, just warning you) who just got a model b for Christmas.

I would like to get one of these SD cards - http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/4536 - but I cannot find a good place to buy one online or in store. Can someone please recommend one for under $10-15 including shipping? I live in Ontario, so watch out for the shipping please.

Thanks.

Hit Tesco's tomorrow, they sell SDCards (used to sell them in their Metro and Express stores too) or Wal*Mart or your local camera shop.
Download http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/NOOBS_latest
Unzip that on to the 4GB (minimum) SDCard
Boot your RPi

Job done.
Nothing special needed. Zero lead time (give or take the 1.3GB download).

I bought a Patriot one from tiger direct for $7, but according to the list of "good cards" it didn't work for one guy. Should it probably be alright?

I stopped buying cheap cards. I have been buying Toshiba Exceria cards. I am very happy. It is a little more money but they do last and the speed is very good.

Yeah, I got it formatted. Took a while though.
