lsusb and wifi adapter

Mon Dec 09, 2013 3:15 pm

i am trying to setup my "sandberg micro wifi usb dongle".

When I perform a lsusb command the dongle is not listed.

Should the dongle always be listed when I perform a lsusb command?
- If yes, could it be a broken wifi adpater or ?
- if no, could someone give me some guidance that could lead me in the right direction :-)

I am pretty new in this linux world...

best regards....jesper

This is why. Your adapter is not registering as it appears to be unreadable.

Does it work if you plug it into a PC USB port?

Can you use the the Windows control panel/device manager (run devmgmt.msc) to find the Vendor ID and Device ID?

Thanks. That's a Realtek RTL8192US

Try sticking it in a powered USB hub.

Try gettting the latest firmware sudo rpi-update
