Having been away from the RPi site for some time, i just was browsing the latest news on the home page. AFTER 4 PAGES THERE WAS NOTHING RELATED TO RISC OS. Ok I know that RISC OS is not nearly as popular as Linux, though on the Pi it is popular enough that it is worth mentioning some things from time to time.
Some one that just got there first RPi may not even know that RISC OS exists, or only see it on the downloads page, or on the NOOBs image, and may never try it despite otherwise possibly have an interest in at least seeing what it is.
You see I have heard some people (here in the States) say that they think RISC OS is like DOS, or even worse some think that it is nothing more than a full screen BASIC interpreter with some minimal disk IO behind it (like some of the old 8-bitters). These people of course avoid even giving it a look, even though some of them were quite interested in it after I showd them RISC OS runing on my RPi. A few of them are now RISC OS converts.
i have also learned that more people than I would have thought are willing to temperarily give up streming video, JAVA, WiFi, and the other things that make Linux more apealing in order to have a fast small point and click OS. Also many of these people have told me that RISC OS is a lot easier to use than the other modern desktop enviroments once they get accustommed to it (though they do admit that if your used to the more common modern desktop enviroments there is a learning curve to unlearn all of the things from the others).
My point is that it would be helpful to have better coverage of the RPi runing RISC OS on the RPi news page. There have been some things to show related to RISC OS and the RPi. There are many software updates provided from a number of authors that have been undertaken specificly to assure compatability with the RPi (even these do have the side effect of helping support the BBxM, PandaBoard, etc), and the RISC OS user base on the RPi is growing fast. The other new boards that run RISC OS have primarily been used with RISC OS only by those that already used RISC OS, on the RPi we are seeing more and more people that have never used RISC OS or even heard of RISC OS before running RISC OS as there primary Operating System.
