I am not so happy with the position of all these connectors on the board because I want to build a nice cluster with about 16 nodes.
The question was how to avoid a big mess with all those usb, power, network and video cables...
Well, if all those nodes will be used as headless devices, I only need 3 connectors per device:
Front side: Ethernet, USB
Back side: power connetor
But - what if I choose a bigger (longer) case and move the power socket to the front besides the USB ports?
What if I use a prism to project the LED indicators to the front, too?
This would allow me to use a 24 port fast ethernet switch to connect all nodes
with short cat5 patch cables. The remaining free ports could be used to connect a low budget NAS, a netbook/pc as management console, a firewall router, etc.
Having the RPi boxes upright and 3 connections to the front makes it easy to replace a unit from this bramble by just drawing it from the shelf...
