Re: Root filesystem available to download
D'oh! I missed this post when I refreshed the forum and made a duplicate post (which was quickly deleted )
Can't wait to get home and start downloading/sharing that torrent!
One interesting thing I remember about Napster (back in its infancy before they made it malware) was they had it built in that everyone who used it automatically shared the installation file. Hopefully people will do something similar with the various distros they choose to use

Apart from the HTTP slots being filled in about 3 seconds... we're all good Thanks for the kind blog post Liz!

Thank *you* for all your hard work, Liam - I can't say how much we appreciate it. (I was amazed at how fast the HTTP went - it was within moments of my hitting publish.)

Re: Root filesystem available to download
I'm downloading! Whoohoo. Unfortunately I'm currently on a work machine and can't leave it up for seeding at this time. But, thank you.

I'll be able to check the logs in a couple of hours to verify the correct number of HTTP's are being allowed through. Will keep in touch. Looks like plenty of guys with big servers are willing to help us seed !

Re: Root filesystem available to download
My NAS runs 24/7 so I am happy to let the torrent just sit there.

Scone - someone in the comments under the post on the main page says he's mirroring an HTTP download for the next hour. Get it while it's hot!

Re: Root filesystem available to download
The torrent is working great. There will be plenty of seeds for the people who will only notice the download is available when eating their cornflakes tomorrow ...

Re: Root filesystem available to download
Never tried torrents before – at least BitTorrent isn't on a torrent…
Connected…
It's running at about 50kB/s down and about 20kB/s up so I'm already micro contributing
Must get better broadband.
Thanks for posting this.

Re: Root filesystem available to download
@MattHawkinsUK Thats reassuring to know about the torrents, thanks for that.
@Chris. Hi mate, 50kb/s down is pretty good to be honest considering the activity we're having Just stay in the swarm and it will get faster as more and more people finish their download and start to seed. Cheers

Re: Root filesystem available to download
Excellent. Currently downloading and seeding, will leave it seeding on my debian server.

Re: Root filesystem available to download
The torrent is working great. I finished the download in about 30 minutes. I don't have a Pi yet but I'm taking this home, dd'ing it to an SD and comparing it to my PowerPC debian 6.0.4 tonight.
Well, I might stop by Joe's for the live music and a Stoli or two first. ;^)

I'm hoping to eventually just leave it up on my r-pi 24/7. I'll limit the speed so I'm not maxing out all the time, but even if it's just a trickle, if everyone does a trickle it's makes a big difference!

Re: Root filesystem available to download
Hi, is supported in this release the hardware acceleration of x11?
Re: Root filesystem available to download
Quite possibly the world's most asked question, But, can we emulate this in QEMU? If so, How?

I'm getting 1.1 - 1.3 MB/sec so there must be some people with some big pipes seeding now.

Not in this release. We're going to be offering a bounty for the best accelerated X implementation from the community - more news about that after launch.

Re: Root filesystem available to download
Turns out there is a slight misunderstanding on my part about how I set up the http limiting.
I will sort that out tomorrow day but basically the download count I'm using to limit the images is actually coming from the total number of all downloads (so .torrent files as well as images) and it's just sending everyone to the 'capacity full' page because so many are downloading torrents. For now though torrents and other mirrors are plenty!

This might pIug a hole for a day or two till lots of people begin to seed http://mwmanning.com/2010/11/2.....lient.html
ATM here the torrent is ~60-140KiB/s | ~5-30KiB/s : ~40 of 60 peers .
