Camera-Wheezy-no video0-device

Sun Aug 18, 2013 10:08 pm

I am a newbie to the pi......

I have installed wheezy and update it. Everthing works ok . I connected my pi camera and can see voideo with raspistill.
I want to use the camera ( no usb camera, but the camera attached to the pi) with "motion" . Motion works, but is complaining in syslog :
Failed to open video device /dev/video0

There is no /dev/video0 in /dev.
Plugging in a webcam creates a /dev/video0
disconnecting it removes the /dev/video0
I tried to make the video0 device with knod, but that dont work either .......
I cant find the solution .......

What am i missing ?
Help appreciated!

You need an appropriate linux driver to abstract the camera access - there is not one (yet) included as part of the supplied camera software. You might want to look at this thread for discussion of one that is under development by a Pi user. There are other threads in the camera specific part of the forum that talk about using the camera with motion.

I partly solved it myself.

I now use -> Motion - MMAL camera
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 43&t=44966
and that works fine .......

I woul like to use kmotion and think i need to create a netcam to display the images in kmotion.
Does some know a script to handle this ?
