How can I check to see if my hdmi cable was shorted? I am pretty sure my pi D1 is kaput (it looks more like an LED than a schottky!).
It's an BAT54 Schottky: http://www.onsemi.com/PowerSolutions/pr ... o?id=BAT54
Says there it has a forward voltage drop of 0.35V. It's a generic part and most mfr's BAT54s are somewhere in that range. So hook up a DMM across it, my DMM has a setting for 2000mV, you should use a similar setting.
I found the Pi resets if you hook up with the wrong polarity, but if you get it the right way round your DMM should show 0.35V or somewhere in that ballpark. Mine read 0.24V so give it some tolerance either side. If it reads 0 or off scale high your diode is fried.
BE CAREFUL when poking around there because you're mere MM from the Pi's power circuit
Also, does anyone know what I need to order to replace the diode?
As I mentioned above the BAT54 is a generic part, although I don't know if the board is designed with a specific vendor's part in mind.
