Only 105 minutes before Pi #10 is SOLD.
Ohhh The TENSION!!!
(See it got knocked back 200 quid earlier on. Withdrawn bid or something dodgy?)

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
I don't see how you can retract a bid; its an auction. If you so much as scratch your nose in an auction room you bought it.
Under 45 mins to go until someone out there, owns the first Raspberry Pi ever sold.
This should make up for there being no premier league football on today. C'mon you Raspberries!

27 posts 27 mins … still £1,900
I feel like this thread will be sniped

2 minutes....
Still no bids over the £1900 - where are the snipers?

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
Anti-climax, such a shame. Was really hoping for a 2500+ end-bid. I am still rooting the #01 model will give the foundation a big donation!
Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
so was that the final score? If so still quite impressive "donation" or price reached. congrats to new owner and foundation.

I never liked the whole sniping idea.
I do use go-industry but they have a different rule: any bid in the last 10 minutes extends the time by another 10 minutes. Gives better result for the seller.

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
I was hoping for some last minute sniping action - maybe there'll be some for #09. Die Hard with a Vengeance on BBC1 soon & should fill the waiting time nicely.

There you go.
1900 squid is not to be sneezed at and given the lack of activity since the last bid, I suppose its not surprising that it didn't go any higher at the end.
To whoever snagged #10, Well Done!

It's certainly not nothing! But it just wasn't the edge-of-my-seat auction I was hoping for.

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
Down to the last 4 boards now. As of 14:50:
#4 £1550 25 bids
#3 £1020 67 bids
#2 £1370 30 bids
#1 £3500 27 bids
Amazing stuff.
Board 1 is the one to watch, I wonder if there will be any pressure on the bid towards the end? Going on how the others ended, I feel that there won't be much drama.

It's the huge steps of £100 each time which make it a little slower now.

As of 10:30AM
(11th Jan)
#4 sold for £1550 but #3 went up to £2257 on 74 bids.
Of those still active, #2 is on £2050 with 34 bids and #1 is static at £3500.
I'm amazed at #3!
(edit: for clarity and to worry about talking to myself...)

Wasn't #3 the one which featured in the video which featured Eben scratching away with a knife in order to perform the necessary mod to the Beta board? Maybe that's why it attracted so much interest. I wouldn't be surprised if #2 goes for even more.

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
I thought a few last minute bids would've sneaked in, but not a bad result all things considered...
Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
Amazing!
More than 5,000 american dollars for a Pi board!
It's making history even before official lunch.

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
I'm sure the extra publicity from these successful auctions won't hurt either. Great result for the foundation.
Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
I wonder what the first 10 production boards are going to go for? It would be a shame not to capitalize on that opportunity as well.

I don't think an attempt to capitalise on the production boards would be as successful as the auctioning of the beta boards was. I suppose it would depend on the serial numbers involved, but I fear it would result in wild accusations of the Foundation getting into bed with eBay scalpers.
Not a good idea!
It would be much better to let the production boards go to their new homes as nature intended.
Oh well.
Board #2 did well, putting on another £100 since I saw it yesterday, ending at £2150. Board #1 stayed at its £3500. I think sniping and counterbidding was somewhat restricted by the £100 bid increment, not altogether a bad thing at this level as it discourages the frivolous and the troublemaker, but it does reduce the drama.
A nice result for the Foundation!
Now to look forward to the opening of the Pi Shoppe!!!

Re: Raspberry Pi #1 spotting...
Also, the pre-production boards are different, so not as easy to fake them.
Although if I had the luck to get production board serial #11, then it would be a waste to burn it out on a project (perhaps ebay and split proceeds or something in that case).
Chances are, it"d be put aside for framing anyway (and perhaps bronzing)!
