Newark is a nightmare to order from.
I did the "notify me when in stock" thing. When I got the notice in e-mail a week or two ago, I went to the site and it said that they were in stock. I placed an order and got a confirmation that the Pi was in stock and would be shipped within the next 2 days.
Go back to check the order and the shipping slips back about a week. A few days later, another week. If they were in stock, why the delay? Since it was clear that Newark had no clue as to when they'd be able to ship Pi's, I decided to cancel the order so that they wouldn't be tying up my money. The notified me that the order was cancelled, but a week later STILL NO REFUND.
Out of curiosity, I went back to the site yesterday and saw that they were again listed as "in stock" with a quantity of 20 in stock. Since I was going to have to call them and raise hell to get them to refund my first order, I figured I'd try again and the worse would happen that I'd have to complain to them to cancel two orders or have my bank do a charge-back.
I ordered and got a e-mail invoice stated that the Pi was in stock and would be shipped 12/3/12. Just checked - BACKORDERED! Since Newark has to know that their inventory information on their website is not accurate, and people will choose to give them credit card information in exchange for "in stock" merchandise, this is pretty much false advertising and a breach of the agreement between the buyer and seller.
So, the moral of the story is that Newark's inventory doesn't work, they don't give timely refunds, and they really aren't that reliable of a vendor to deal with in my opinion. Your mileage may very, but that's my experience and I wanted to make sure others where forewarned. Not the end of the world, but a slight pain in the butt.
