I've found a plastic case designed around a 2x16 LCD panel..

Mon Nov 12, 2012 8:04 pm

Hi Folks,

This is not a Pi case, but a case designed around a 2x16 LCD panel - it looks a bit like a central heating controller case. I am actually after something like this for a 4x20 LCD panel so I'd be grateful if anybody has any leads. In any event, thought some of you might be interested:

I have sent a message to the seller to see whether they are the manufacturer and/or have other stocks - will let you know what comes back..

That's interesting - some people output the IP address of the Pi to an LCD, so converting a case like this would be very neat. Once the official display becomes available - before Christmas, supposedly - can't remember if they said which year though  - there'll be a whole new breed of enclosures I'm sure!

I must have missed the 'official' LCD announcement - mind you, I've not done a lot of Pi work recently.

I'm now working on an RPi central heating manager with 240/110v sensing inputs from the main tank and room stat, a pair of mains-level relay outputs, a couple of logic-level inputs, real-time clock, front panel LCD with programming/override buttons and full calendaring and overrides via a web/phone app.

I'll post all details when done - the biggest challenge is the case - I am hoping to find an off-the shelf one for the LCD, switches, power supply and relays and just link it to the Pi's GPIO header via a ribbon cable. The pi will be in its own case at this time unless I get the enthusiasm to design one for everything.

Oh right - when did this change? They definitely said it would be later in 2012.

That enclosure looks interesting. Would be great if they did a 20x4 version.

On Twitter Rob Bishop said that they are working as fast as they can on the camera but it will probably not be ready for Christmas. It sounds like they've got their design done but they need to get the production sorted. I guess the screen is going to be a long way off.

... but the Foundation like surprising us so who knows what might happen!

Hi guys, I'm working on two versions of cases, one for a character LCD and another for a phone LCD.
Problem is production willl start only after Christmas...
