Overclocking RetroPie vs Raspberry Pi OS

Mon Nov 30, 2020 5:24 pm

Hi All,

I've never done any kind of overclocking before, but might try.
On my RPI 3b+ using Raspberry PI OS, I haven't had a need to, but some of the games on my RetroPie build get a bit laggy.
Both RetroPie and RPIOS are up to date.
If I overclock while using RetroPie, does it stay in place when I switch out the SD cards?

Thanks
RPI3B+ - Raspberry Pi OS -general "playing" and/or RetroPi
RPI0W#1 - MotionEyeOS - yard/home brew surveillance
RPI0W#2 - PiOS/Driveway gate monitor - work in progress
RPI0W#3 - ?????

No, everything goes when you switch cards.

But then its only a 30 second edit to set the overclock on Raspberry Pi OS:

sudo nano /boot/config.txt
Pi4 8GB (Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit), Pi4 4GB, Pi4 2GB, Pi1 Rev 1 256MB, Pi Zero

Thanks jahboater ,

I just wanted to make sure the change was by OS and not something that was permanently changed on the board itself.
Don't really do anything in RPIOS yet that needs the overclock.

Thanks again.
