Games on Pi

I just ordered a raspberry pi to use as a small desktop that i can play games on and put files onto. I have heard you can play java games such as Minecraft, how would i get a game such as Need For Speed 3, which is a java game.

NFS3 is not a Java game (Minecraft is).

Someone would need to build a program launcher for Need For Speed 3 to launch the game. Need for Speed 3 is not a Linux game either. Need For Speed 3 is a Windows, and a home console game. The fastest way to play Need For Speed 3 would be to play the PlayStation 1 version of the game. You can use the RetroPie operating system to play PlayStation 1 games with the Raspberry Pi computer. You can play games on the Raspberry Pi computer. You need to know which games will run on the Raspberry Pi computer.

You need box86 and an x86 version of wine, then it just a mater of launching nfs3 with wine (that will use box86). Once Wine is there, it's pretty easy to launch. Use TwisterOS and everything is already pre-installed and ready to run.

I used Eltech's Exagear with the Raspberry Pi 3 computer. I know how to use the X86 user space that is installed on top of the Raspberry Pi operating system. Box86 should be more up to date compared to Exagear. With Exagear, you did not have graphics acceleration. I tried to run Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun with Exagear. The game was barely playable, because the old Windows games used a single CPU core. The old Windows games were not multi threaded. I watch the Pi Lab videos from time to time, very interesting project. I'm more interested in Linux source ports compared to PC or console emulators.

Box86 doesn't need a chroot to run, but it can use it to fetch libs that are not wrapped (like libstdc++.so). OpenGL is wrapped, so you have full hardware acceleration.
