Chromium Kiosk Matchbox keyboard not showing

Wed Jan 08, 2020 10:15 am

I have set up a touchscreen kiosk using RPi 3B and a 7 inch touchscreen.

Everything works except that matchbox-keyboard will not launch when I select an input field.

If I exit kiosk mode and then manually launch matchbox keyboard it will work.

Im not sure what I am doing wrong but its a deal breaker to have a virtual keyboard

Its like the keyboard is not on top.

attached is my file that launches the kiosk at boot

Code: Select all

xet s noblank
xset s off
xset -dpms

unclutter -idle 0.5 -pi &
matchbox-keyboard --daemon &
sed -i 's/"exited_cleanly":false/"exited_cleanly":true/' /home/pi/.config/chromium/Default/Preferences
sed -i 's/"exit_type":"Crashed"/"exit_type":"Normal"/' /home/pi/.config/chromium/Default/Preferences

/usr/bin/chromium-browser --noerrdialogs --disable-infobars —-kiosk --window-position=0,0

Any luck getting this to work? I've got it working on Debian 10 on Hyper-V but the same config does not work on Raspbian 9 or 10. Keyboard does not pop up when I enter a text field in Chromium. Maybe one or more packages needs to be installed?
