Spare Parts

Wed Feb 12, 2020 9:40 pm

Hi All

I have a couple of laptops & tablets that I am going to break apart, recycle etc. Are there any distinctive parts that I could use on a Rasp Pi 3+ or Pi Zero W.

Thanks

You may be able to reuse Laptop Screen if can find a suitable LVDS Board, can not envisage much else which could be easily repurposed.....

Keep the hardware platforms intact and running, install a minimal Linux-based operating system if applicable, and use them as 'terminals' or remote networked workstations to integrate with your other RPi hardware.

apart from the obvious (storage medium, ram, speakers, battery, etc), broken laptops and tablets (and mobile phones for that matter) have little in the way of reusable parts except of course the electronics themselves.
Aside from salvaging all the capacitors, resistors, diodes, etc, there is nothing of any real use.
