Problem with Raspberry Pi GPIO board

Thu Jan 09, 2020 12:03 pm

Hello,

I am french so my english may be quite strange...
Santa Klaus brought me a Raspberry Pi 4 and I am discovering its world. I ain to play with colored leds but also with sensors, motors and so on. BUT I have an ugly view big fingers and big fingers. So I thought about GPIO card, you know, no extra pins but another presentation with more space.

I found and bought this one:

MakerHawk Raspberry Pi Carte d'extension GPIO multifonctionnelle pour Raspberry Pi 2 3 B B avec vis, par seamuing
https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B071ZC1HFF/ref ... fEbZ31AHR8

I thought it would be easy to use but I am unable to understand how to do. Of course there is not documentation. Someone in a french raspberry forum guessed it may use jumpers, but what to do ?

Heu, in french : HELP, somebody may help me ?

There's a French section on here where some very clever folks hang out.
Il y a une section en français sur le forum où des gens très intelligents traînent.
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=65

That GPIO breakout board you've got for a RPi2B or 3B/3B+ should work perfectly on any RPi4B model.
Cette carte de dérivation gpio pour un RPi2B ou 3B / 3B + devrait fonctionner correctement sur n'importe quel RPi4B.

Apologies if Google translate made nonsense of my words.

Hi there, i was looking for the same sort of thing...a breakout board for the PI 4. i have one (a breakout board) for my pi 2b however i noted the pinouts are different between the two boards.

i know the board can still be used if i pay attention to which pin(s) im using, but how come they didnt release any for the PI4 models?

The GPIO header hasn't changed between the RPi 1B+ and RPi 4B so why would anyone need to change the design?

What do you think the significant differences are?

I compared the pinouts between the 2 and 4, and noticed various inputs/outputs have moved around.

Like I2C, SPI to name a couple, various GPIO #'s.

I feel like if I used that same header, where the I2C is marked on the breakout board, wouldn't be the I2C pins on the Pi4.

Is my description above not the case? Or am I totally out to lunch?

Enjoy your lunch ;)

The Pi 4 has some additional features available on the Pins, but nothing else on the GPIO header has changed.

Have you some examples of these inputs/outputs that have moved around?
