Can the 3COM 3CRUSB10075 USB Wi-Fi Adapter Work with Raspberry Pi?

Mon Sep 09, 2019 4:25 am

Hi all

I bought 2 RPi boards recently:
1) RPi Zero W
2) RPi Zero v1.3

I might need once in a while to connect the RPi Zero v1.3 to an internet, just for a short time,
and I wonder regarding this:

I have at home a completely new USB Wi-Fi Adapter, that was bought long long ago.
It is 3COM 3CRUSB10075.

Can it work with RPi? (Zero v1.3)

Thank you

It is quite an ancient 54g WiFi Adaptor which I believe uses a Zydas Chipset, providing it has Linux driver / firmware it should work.

Plug it in and see if it is recognised:

Code: Select all

lsusb -v

Hi fruitoftheloom

Thank you for your answer.

Simply to connect it, without doing anything before, like some Setting/Driver?

Just plug it in, Raspbian will recognise a USB device has been inserted, lsusb will inform what device has been plugged in, that information is what is needed to ascertain if any drivers / firmware may be required for it to function.

The Zero has one USB port. The other micro-USB socket nearest a board corner is just that. Only its power pins connect to anything on the board.

I know that..
And it's not only the Zero, also the Zero W..
You get 1 USB Host port, and the corner one is power..
