Hearing of the heat issues I added a fan. 5V using usb.
Which necessitated stand offs, and ribbon cable.
Which meant a mounting system (styrene, 2mm).
Result is not pretty. It runs cool and works. Ribbon is M-F, oddly the connectors
don't fit in between the stand offs - pcb holes too tight (Eben?).

Looking at your picture if you turned both plugs round the cable would come out on the outside, you could then dismantle one of the plugs and shorten the cable so as to reduce the spare cable left hanging out side the pi.
