Audiophile player for Wheezy

Sun Jul 21, 2019 10:09 am

Hello
Its my first post so hello to all.
I have an early pi, arm v6, and have Raspbian 7 wheezy and wondered if there was an audiophile audio player I could add to it.
Thanks

Wheezy is ancient. That is not going to help installing any kind of software.

Not only will you need a player with excellent transmission to a pre-amp level output and then excellent prea-amp, amp, and speakers. Remember you system will only be as good as the weakest component.

the latest Raspbian is backwards compatible to all RPi
make a new installation to the latest Raspbian version.... then come back here (as a new topic)

Sorry everyone I don't know how to use the forum and did not know that you had replied.
I have a decent hi fi system or decent enough for my ears fed from an Audiolab M-Dac.
I will download The latest Raspian and come back.
Thanks for the replies that I have rudely ignored but by mistake.

Just thought you may like to know that I run Logitechmediaserver and Squeezelite on the piCorePlayer OS.

I use a rpi1B with the Cirruslogic dac.

It runs well, although a little slowly at times, when updating the software mostly. ;)

Downloaded pCP5.0.0 Standard version and it boots fairly fast and I can access the main page but how do I start LMS and squeezelite.
Thanks

If you look through the link I provided there are helpful "how to"'s.

Basically:

1) On the pCP main page tab, scroll to the bottom and click on Beta, ignore the warning.

2) On the main page, expand the file system size

3) Click on the Squeezelite page and configure the player

4) Click on the LMS page tab and install LMS, then configure.

Plenty of info on the web and over on

https://forums.slimdevices.com/

The procedure is much the same for any version of piCorePlayer

I think it's too complicated for me with no knowledge of Pi's. I did get lms running once but not sure how and can't again.
I like pCP as it's light whereas volumino and moode are pretty large, volumino in particular is massive (bloat ware). Daphile is not open source so not completely configurable and not for Pi.

If you are in the UK I could telephone and talk you through.

However PMs are not allowed anymore, so that is not going to happen.

It's not too difficult, everyone has started by making a mistake or two.

Otherwise, join up at Slimdevices, make a few posts (your first posts are moderated, so be patient) and you will get plenty of help.

I retract my last post.
pCP is ideal but I can't get any sound. I am using a cheap but not bad Pcm2704 usb DAC running headphones to test. I can set the player to my main servers M-DAC and it plays through my main system, but not the Pcm2704 on the Pi or the television monitors HDMI sound.
Any ideas.

If the mdac works on USB, then when you change to out put to your 2704 da you will have to reset the audio output.

If you click on the red more then you will see the info.

A reboot will be required.

I have sorted it out now so thanks to everyone for your help.
I have other questions about the Pi but will start a new thread.
