Raspberry Pi 4B - Mouse Cursor lag in 4k

Tue Jul 02, 2019 8:45 pm

Tried adjusting the Mouse settings, seems the Cursor preforms just fine in 1080p but in 4k its laggy.

anyone else having this issue?

also anyway to adjust the mouse scroll wheel speed?

Also youtube videos in chromium look very bad / choppy in a window, in full screen even worse,
and that is in 1080p and 4K.

I don't have a Pi4 myself but just from reading what others have posted:

1) mouse cursor looks laggy with 30 fps video (because everyone is used to 60 fps I guess?)
The lower screen resolutions are generally 60 fps but 4k is 30 fps (?)

2) The Pi4 hardware video acceleration is currently disabled in the web browser, causing poor video playback performance as widely reported.
That is due to a software issue which reportedly should be resolved Real Soon Now.

I think by default the HDMI ports drive 4K monitors at only 30Hz, which would definitely seem like cursor lag. I think there is a boot option that you have to set that enables 4K/60Hz...

It definitively doesn't look like refresh rate casing it... It seems like cursor movements are refreshed @ 10Hz or less...

Weird, on my 4k DELL monitor, running at 60 or 30, the mouse is pretty good. Choosing a slower mode does get a little bit laggy, but not horrendous.

How and what is perceived as laggy is very individual. For many people, 30 Hz is horribly laggy. :)

I do that all the time.

BTW, unless you are a Raspberry Pi engineer, please change the icon you are using. It will be confusing to other users.

i think its a 30hz thing, i tried 1080p 30hz, and its the same, i think in-order for me to do 60hz 4k I need to connect to the display port, not HDMI.
