Not able to succesfully flash kali linux
I got a Pi-Top, and I flashed the raspberry pi version of the Kali Linux on the sd card, but every time, (I used etcher) etcher would say " 1 Device flashed! One device failed!" . All the files are there, but it still won't boot. Help me.
Re: Not able to succesfully flash kali linux
Hi.
If you are new to the pi then i would start with raspbian , try download the desktop version from here
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
and see if that will flash using etcher on to your SD card,
if you can't flash your SD card with raspbian then you should post details of the hardware you are using to do the flashing and including the OS running on the hardware.
kali is more of an advanced OS, you should be aware it may not support the pi top hardware.
for kali support you should go to there own forum https://forums.kali.org/

Hello. Thank you for your reply.
But I have already tried to download both Pi-Top OS, and raspbian, and the Kali image is for the raspberry pi, so it does support it. Can you help me?
Thank you

I’m sorry for not answering your question. I wasn’t able to flash raspbian on my sd card. But the software works, because I’ve used for usb drives, and it work for those.
Re: Not able to succesfully flash kali linux
I don’t know about the first one, but the SD card isn’t fake, as it has worked before.fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 8:25 pm

Re: Not able to succesfully flash kali linux
By the sound of it you have a dead SD Card if you cannot flash the basic Raspbian image.
Try another card of 8 or 16GB.
Get a decent one with A1 or A2 support from a reputable supplier - avoid Amazon as they seem to mix up any card supplier now

Your problem is likely the card reader. I've had one that worked great for copying files, but failed when writing images. Try another card reader.

Re: Not able to succesfully flash kali linux
I have tried everything to try to fix it, I am thinking of replacing the Raspberry pi. Should I do it?

You don't mention having read this - STICKY: Is your Pi not booting? (The Boot Problems Sticky) - viewtopic.php?f=28&t=58151
There are only 2 basic options - either your RPi is faulty or damaged, or you are setting it up incorrectly. Replacing the hardware is one way to resolve that uncertainty.

I'm amazed I often see card readers from pound shops recommended. It is in my experience possibly the worst advice you can ever give someone. I've bought two of them and they've both scrabbled cards.

I've had a few. One died. The rest have been fine. None have been any good at scrabble.feelslikeautumn wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 6:22 pmI'm amazed I often see card readers from pound shops recommended.
